Diana Nyad. “Everyday of our life is epic.”

Happy New Year you guys!

I hope everyone enjoyed their New Year celebrations and was surrounded by loved ones. I’ve been lagging behind on the posts because I’ve been struggling with some things faith-wise and in my relationship with God. I think it would be hypocritical and dishonest to share things and talk about things that I may not be fully convicted about in my heart. While I sort out where my heart is and try to stabilize my standing with God I wanted to share something that really inspired me today. I think it’s a pretty good message to start 2014 with.

At age 60, having not swum a stroke in decades, she began planning for her white whale of distance swims: the 110-mile ocean crossing between Havana, Cuba and Key West, Florida. She’d tried it once, in her 20s, and severe jellyfish attacks had defeated her then. But now, with a strong team and a new commitment to her vision, she stepped back into the salt and in 2013, on her fifth attempt and at age 64, she became the first person confirmed to swim from Cuba to Florida (without the aid of a shark cage). Diana talks about how it feels to have finally done it. -via: Ted.com
